Cat Ladies for America can help you embrace your inner alley cat to defend democracy.
We are everyone, everywhere, all at once!! Whether you are interested in paws-on-the-street action, digital organizing, first hand stories from locals living where today's story is happening, or hearing from people and organizations that are making things suck less, you have come to the right place!
- We conduct livestream interviews with and write stories about people and organizations that are making things suck less in new and interesting ways.
- We mix in catty essays and reporting from chapter captains about cool cats doing good work, as well as how fat cat billionaires, electeds, and their lap dogs might be hurting our local communities.
- We use what we learn to help our local chapter and grassroots members -- aka Action Cats (that's you!) -- to channel our zoomies into specific moves on the ground, on the phone, and online to claw back our rights.
- We cover national issues connected to purrr-tecting democracy as well as hyperlocal cat fights brought to our attention by local bureau captains and feline friends on the ground.

Yes absolutely! Cat lady is a state of mind.
Yes! We welcome cat ladies of all genders.
We’re just like you, grassroots supporters who want to do everything we can in this moment to protect democracy and elevate organizations, leaders, actions, policies and candidates who will fight for and with us through peaceful - if sassy - protest and mobilization. We are not a PAC.
We do that using what we know best: comedy, cats and cajoling.
A lady never tells.
Cat Ladies for America’s Founder had never in any way worked in politics or on a campaign when she accidentally & impulsively launched her grassroots organization on July 21, 2024 - the day President Joe Biden announced that he would drop out of the 2024 Presidential race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris.
Initially just a social media account named Cat Ladies for Kamala, things escalated quickly. Just two weeks later, on August 4th, its online fundsraiser event had 35,000 live viewers and raised over $320,000 for the Harris-Walz 2024 campaign in one night, which would grow to over $400,000 and include donations for down ballot candidates by Election Day 2024. Its work has been featured by media including MSNBC, The Advocate, and The Washington Post.
As of 2026, Cat Ladies for America has grown to nearly 200,000 social media followers, 30,000+ Substack subscribers, and 25 local chapters across the country and growing.
